Allied health encompasses a variety of services to help you restore and maintain your health and wellbeing. Uniting AgeWell’s team of allied health professionals can support you to meet your goals.

Our services include:

  • physiotherapy
  • exercise physiology, including individual and group programs at our specially-designed seniors’ gyms
  • podiatry and footcare
  • occupational therapy
  • strength and resilience training
  • aids and equipment
  • memory support
  • information and education sessions.

AgeWell Gyms

AgeWell Gyms

Our AgeWell Gyms are specially designed for seniors and feature Helsinki University Research (HUR) equipment. This air resistance equipment reduces stress on joints and connective tissues while still helping you meet your goals. Plus, you’ll be supported by our allied health professionals and tailored fitness programs.

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation and restorative care services are available at all of our Community Hubs as well as our AgeWell Gyms. Some of the services you can access include:

  • Falls and Balance classes
  • Strength groups
  • Condition-specific groups: Parkinson’s, Stroke, Osteoporosis, Cardiac and Pulmonary
  • Healthy ageing education and information.

Group fitness

Group fitness

Group fitness class are available at all of our Community Hubs as well as our Hawthorn and Northcote AgeWell Centres. This can include Tai Chi, Pilates, dancing and walking groups as well as specialised classes for falls prevention and balance, osteoporosis and general strength and balance.

Social Connections

Our social connections programs are designed to help you continue to do the things you love. You can explore new activities and build new connections in your local community as well as connect over the phone with our Telelink or Chat-A-Ring programs.

Online fitness programs

Stay committed to your workout routine from the comfort of your own home thanks to our online exercise programs. AgeWell Active Online empowers you with group fitness classes and education sessions, all conducted online for your convenience.

Uniting AgeWell services are only available in Victoria and Tasmania.

Accessing our services

Our programs are available to people who:
  • are aged 65 years and over
  • are aged 50 years and are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • have carers who require respite due to stress or ill health
  • live alone and are assessed as being at risk of social isolation or depression
  • are younger people living with a disability
  • have an assessed health concern that requires rehabilitation or restorative assistance.
To access subsidised services, you’ll need to be registered, assessed and referred by My Aged Care. No referral is required for clients who are self-funded.
